Coverages

Reliable Coverage From A Trusted Name.

The Physicians' Trust offers policies that cover all allegations of professional negligence – either for rendering or failure to render services. Our policies cover the physician, as well as everyone employed by the physician and his or her professional corporation.

Prior Acts Coverage At No Cost.

Unlike many providers, our policies include – at no extra cost – coverage for incidents occurring before the effective date of the policy. This means you don’t have to purchase “tail” coverage from the prior carrier in order to change carriers. In addition, we will provide free “tail” coverage for those who have been insured by us for five years if he or she permanently retires, dies or becomes permanently disabled.

Types of Coverage

Coverage That Fits Your Practice.

The Physicians' Trust currently provides two types of coverage for physician practices.

Claims Made Coverage

Covers incidents reported after the policy effective date that occurred after the retroactive date that the physician did not have knowledge of as long as the policy is in force. If the policy is cancelled or terminated, the physician must either purchase “tail” coverage, which is an extended reporting period endorsement that allows extra time to report incidents, or get the new carrier to provide a retroactive date and pick up the prior exposure.

In addition, The Physicians' Trust will cover a physician for any claim reported to us during his or her policy period whether or not a claim has been filed. Many insurance companies will only provide coverage if a lawsuit has been filed.

Occurrence Coverage

Covers events that occurred during the policy period no matter when they’re reported.
